Abu Dhabi Grand Slam® Tokyo will witness the return of the Legends series with Japanese black belt, Daisuke 'Amazon' Sugie who will face two-time Legends champion Vitor 'Shaolin' Ribeiro at the OTA Gymnasium in Tokyo on Sunday July 29th on the first leg of the Grand Slam jiu-jitsu world tour.
Abu Dhabi, UAE, 12th June, 2017: The UAE Jiu-jitsu Federation® (UAEJJF), the official authority for the sport of jiu-jitsu in the United Arab Emirates, will offer cash prizes of over $125,000 in each of the four host cities [and over $200,000 at the Abu Dhabi leg of the tour] at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam® Jiu-Jitsu World Tour Season 3 [2017-18]: Los Angeles [USA], Tokyo [Japan], Rio de Janeiro [Brazil], Abu Dhabi [UAE] and London [UK].
This year's Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championships represent a major, sweeping change for jiu-jitsu as a competitive sport. The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation made the bold move of introducing country-qualifiers at the prestigious event, in which athletes from each country compete against their fellow nationals for the chance to represent their respective countries in the final stages of the World Pro.
In an exciting press release from the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, the selection for the new US National Team was officially announced, naming a comprehensive list of the top American athletes that will be representing the US at the upcoming Abu Dhabi World Pro Championships taking place April 18-22, 2017.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam in Abu Dhabi is shaping up to be one of UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s finest events, in the most prestigious and highest paid jiu-jitsu world tour, with 1,564 players registered to compete at the IPIC Arena, Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi on 13th and 14th January.
