Yes, we're all missing our jiu-jitsu training dearly during the covid-19 pandemic shutdown. There's not a lot we can do at the moment to speed up our collective return to the mats, but we can still sprinkle a bit of jiu-jitsu spirit into our day-to-day by wearing these new gi fabric washable, reusable masks when we go out and about.
These masks are not medical-grade, and are not disposable NIOSH or N95-rated. They are fabric masks that you can wash and re-use indefinitely. Wearing them when you need to go out and about will in fact help to protect you to some degree, and to protect other around you. The National ministries of heath in countries around the world have made official statements suggesting that people can wear fabric masks as a measure of protection.
Let's Do Some Good:
We're also taking this opportunity to give some much needed support to a charitable organization in Manaus, Brazil that's looking after feeding a relatively small, but needy, group of 200 families there... families that are out of work and are not yet receiving any government assistance because of bureaucracy and administrative delays.
And so we're giving 10% of the proceeds of all masks sold to purchase 'Cestas Básicas' which are parcels of basic essential non-perishable foods, and each parcel feeds a family of 4, for up to a 2 weeks. For these people that are legitimately at-risk as a result of this crisis, providing these parcels can quite literally save lives.
Granted, a lot more than 200 families in the world are in dire need of help right now. But if we can at least help some people, especially ones that need it so badly, then it's something.
Brazil gave us Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu... so we can all give back a bit to show our solidarity. And we can do it in true jiu-jitsu style.
These masks are meant to fit the majority of adult faces, and they wrap comfortably behind the ears, staying out of the way of your hair or headwear.
As masks are personal items, they are understandably not returnable. You wouldn't want to buy a mask that was previously returned by another customer, so we're not accepting mask returns.
